Status Report: Aside from their position atop the novel’s continental divide, there’s nothing notable about these three chapters.

  1. Nothing? But what about the Monstrous Pictures of Whales? The Less Erroneous Pictures of Whales, and the… I feel more and more silly as I type the titles out. Dear lord, is there ANYTHING of worth in those 3 chapters.

  2. Congrats. You’ve reached the 50% mark.

  3. Did you really know what busks and fasces are, or are you possibly slipping into the familiar “I don’t need to look it up, I can tell from context what it means” mode? I think I’m enjoying your reading of MD partly because you’re picking out the new words and saving me the trouble of slogging through the flood to find them. Excelsior!

Even if you’re not into metal it’s worth listening to; they’re regarded as one of the Best Bands Ever by many metal fans (myself included) and just got a Grammy nomination for their new album Blood Mountain.
