How I Feel Today

  1. For the life of me, I still can’t understand, as a canadian, how you were able to vote TWICE for this bumbling fool. I bet you’ll never get over it either…

  2. That’s a great picture! I’m glad that now that The Dick and The Bush are gone, we can start making fun of them like never before.

  3. Hah! that is awesome. [this is good].

  4. Hah! that is awesome. [this is good].

  5. I sure as hell didn’t vote for him once, let alone twice. Here’s to a future where Uhura exists, and let us banish Mad Max once and for all. This has already been a great day, and it’s not even half-way over! President Barack Hussein Obama, go forth and kick some pork-addled government ass!

  6. I’m sorry, but unless Obama prosecutes Bush, he will not be “change we can believe in”. He will be a pardoner of serious Constitutional offenses, and one can only imagine the offenses Obama himself will commit, with hopes his replacement will not prosecute him after his term.

More of the same, with a different name. Much love to the State, Obama supporters! Me, I’d rather be a free man.

  7. I certainly never voted for the guy, but Americans only elected him once (and that was once too many). The Supreme Court gave him the White House in 2000

  8. Oh get over yourselves. Bush is an idiot I’ll grant you but a criminal no, a politician who gamed the system yes. Obama is no different, he’ll just game the system in new and frightening ways.

I will say this for Bush though, through his programs 2.1 million Africans are receiving HIV retroviral drugs up from 53,000 before his initiatives. 200,000+ babies were born virus free (from mothers who were infected) thanks to the program. His initiatives have done more to save people from the scourge of AIDS than any other single organization/person in history.

  9. Yep, we got the same Secretary of Defense, a VP who voted for the Iraq war, and a Secretary of State who voted for the Iraq war.

Change you can believe in, baby!!

  10. The Future Republicans have sexier outfits.

  11. Does this mean we’ll all get to bed hot green aliens?

  12. Um, not to take this post TOO seriously or anything, but the in the “future” I see a pack of white……in charge with a token black woman as a sex symbol.

I’ll also freely admit that I have never been a Trekkie, so it may possibly be that I have no idea what I’m talking about.

  13. It’s all in the perspective…(also tongue in cheek)

A 1/2 vulcan (greenish-yellow), a Scotsman, a russian, an irish-american, a black woman and a doctor, all working together to subjugate the rest of the universe to Earthlings. Someone else can make the obvious reference as to why Sulu isn’t in the picture.

If I remember my trek correctly, Earth is one happy homogenous New World Order at this point and is happily travelling the universe, “exploring” and “meeting new races”. What that really means is destroying anyone who doesn’t agree that Earthlings know best.

As for the rest, Bush was bad. Obama won’t be any better unless he can get rid of Pelosi/Reid and move the Democratic party past their “we are in charge now, same as the old boss” mentality.

Congress needs Term Limits, in a Constitutional amendment.

  14. MJB is forgetting the prime directive

  15. Come for the Barack, stay for the Tribbles.

  16. Hey Mario, most of us can’t figure it out, either.

  17. Here’s an Up All Night blog entry from several months ago that covers the same ground.

  18. “I will say this for Bush though, through his programs 2.1 million Africans are receiving HIV retroviral drugs up from 53,000 before his initiatives. 200,000+ babies were born virus free (from mothers who were infected) thanks to the program. His initiatives have done more to save people from the scourge of AIDS than any other single organization/person in history. ”

In the interest of scrupulous accuracy, though — Bush probably wouldn’t have even considered doing any of this if not for Bono playing gadfly to all the world leaders over the past 7 years.

  19. Mario/Jen,
Hindsight is 20/20. In 2000, Bush won because he was not-Clinton. The nation was tired of the soap opera and the interventionist policies (maybe hard to believe now) from the White House and the GOP was on a roll. They could have nominated a hatrack and eeked out a win against Gore, who could never shake the (false) label as Clinton II.

In 2004 I think it’s hard to overstate what a monumentally bad candidate Kerry was. He was the exact opposite of Bush in all the ways that didn’t matter. Instead of a prep-school washout, they got a prep-school valedictorian. Instead of a TANG no-show, they got an actual decorated soldier. Instead of a verbal clown, they got a guy who could speak perfectly for hours without saying anything interesting. But in the end, those things didn’t matter, because on the key question of the moment Who Will Make You Safer? Kerry didn’t have anything to say.

Elections are never about the great arc of history. They’re snapshots in time. They are about here and about me and about right now and these last 6 months. So to ask, How could you elect this buffoon twice? is to ask the wrong question because it assumes a continuity that just doesn’t exist.

  20. Oh, I see what you did there. Multi-layered and nuanced … WIN!

  21. Dear Jesus, please don’t let the world become Star Trek…

Hooray for Obama getting in though! :)

  22. Since Chekov is in the pic above… will the US Navy be getting nuclear wessels?

(Sorry, but Rich Horton beat me to the green alien babe jokes… running with the “b” material here…)

  23. Dude. James. Lay off the Ayn Rand.

  24. What a puny plan! Where is that gay bastard Sulu? Is he still mad about prop 8?

    Lord Humongous of the Wasteland

  25. I want a cool Mad Max future! :D

  26. As much as I would LOVE a Road Warrior future… 10,000 POINTS for a great visual analogy! Beautiful.

  27. I could just see W sitting there during Obama’s address thinking, “Damn, I didn’t know there were so many words”.

Maybe I missed it but I don’t recall seeing any Bush father/son love.

Not buying Cheney’s back story for a minute.

But the really serious question is what does everyone think about Her dress? Some people are calling it the inauguration upholstery.

  28. Hey, what happened to ‘Lolita’?

  29. Lol…I don’t understand the need for the conspiracy theory about Cheney in the wheelchair…I’m sure looking like an angry Mr. Potter was his first choice of how he wants people to remember him…

Or are you saying that Biden suplexed him in the Rose Garden just before?

  30. So when do we get to start boning extraterrestrial chicks?

  31. We know have a great strong-arm tactic for our international diplomacy: “Cooperate with us, or we’ll elect another Bush!” Then watch how our allies get in line.

  32. Noonan,

You mean the Directive that every captain threw out the window as soon as it was convenient or a green alien babe was offering herself up?

Sure, they paid it lip service in the Next Generation but in the end, it was all about “Look how cool the Federation is, you can’t trust those Klingons/Romulans/Ferengi/etc”.

  33. Fantastic.

  34. Ain’t it the truth

  35. @Ryan: he may have done some good on helping babies be born AIDS-free, but then again, he didn’t help one bit preventing their parents from getting AIDS in the first place — through condom education. Bush’s head-in-the-sand attitude towards sex education has caused enormous harm.

  36. @Buzz
So you are going to grab onto something you don’t like about him in order to throw a dig at him, even in the face of amazing outcomes. Nice. Done more than any other single person or organization…ya know Bono courted Clinton on this too…what did Clinton do? That must mean Clinton didn’t care about AIDS right? What-ev.

  37. Best (only good) argument I’ve ever seen for Bush. “JUST WALK AWAY!!”
