  1. I’m really looking forward to going and seeing Dean when he pulls thru Iowa as that will probably be as close as he will make it to Nebraska. I’m relatively confident the numbers will be thinner at the Harkin Steak Fry. Also I will get to see Bill Clinton for the low low price of only $30

  2. Great article, but can a group really be considered a capella if they are accompanied by bongos?

I’m pround to focus on the most trivial details!

  3. three trillion dollars of our money, if you include the interest

Forget about the interest part, how does he explain this. The money which the government didn’t take out of someone’s salary rightfully belongs to someone else?? By not taking money out of my pocket and putting it into yours, I am stealing from you!?

  4. I like how that morning news drawing makes you look you haven’t washed your face in months, or haven’t you???

  5. We are living through a period of history that in the future will be labeled: “Worst President Ever.” It might last another 14 months, or another 62 months. It’s up to us.

  6. Matthew, matthew, matthew…
with all of your reading of economic studies (see your sidebar) I would have expected you to catch on or at least poke fun of the interest on the tax cut with a little more behind it. The reason that there is interest attached to a tax cut, is because it is not a tax cut – it is a rebate – which has to be paid back later, ie:taxes. The country runs on debt – we have a lot if it. The only real way to receive a tax cut is to zero out all existing debt. And that my friend is gonna take a mightly long time. Especially with three trillion new dollars to pay back; including the interest.

  7. Read the whole thing out loud to my husband. Very funny. Now I’m late for the gym.

C’mon! The interest on three trillion is HUGE! We’re rich, man. No one in this country ever needs to work again. Dean for president!

  8. Cool. A defective yeti endorsement! For any of you yeti readers who are just a little bit interested in the good Doctor, please click over to:

(The official campaign weblog) and sign up for the “Support Dean” email list (upper right corner with the yellow and blue “Americans for Dean” banner). You can keep up to date on what the govenor is doing, and help show the power of grass roots organization just by being counted.

Keep your eye on the blog at the end of this month when they bring out “the bat” for fundraising, and you will see the amazing difference each and every person can really make.

  9. I side with Melissa. I just really don’t want Bush to be re-elected. But I also want someone in office who’s not going to forsake Iraq. We’ve done what we’ve done, we have to follow-through and help them build a strong government, and I DON’T think bids on rebuilding it should be privatized.

One thing of note that people seem to forget, and are truly not outraged enough about: Gore DID beat out Bush in the last presidential election. How has that whole fiasco been pushed to the background?? I seriously thought we should have completely revoted (I read that as revolted and I like that idea too). ALL of us. Of course, the logistics of that are ridiculous, but everything that has happened in the last 3 years having to do with the government has been ridiculous.

Anyway, you’ve got a great and thought-provoking blog! Thanks!

  10. Just got back from vacation last night and I just read your article. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me want to run for president too. Hey, if Wesley Clark can do it why not me?
