Firstly! I was on NPR’s Marketplace last Friday doing my Legonomics shtick. You can listen to it online (RealAudio link). My piece is dead last, about 25 minutes into the 28 minute broadcast. Apparently Matthew Baldwin is a “freelance writer” — who knew?

Also! I am quite waaaaay behind on book and movie reviews, so you can expect a veritable passel of those this week.

Furthermore! Last night I dreamt that I became a millionaire selling t-shirts that read “Well Slap Me With Brie And Call Me French: I Oppose The War In Iraq!”

In Conclusion! If Reader’s Digest ever featured a “Drama in Real-Life” entitled Slapped By Brie!, I would totally read it.

  1. Are you talking about bris, or brie? Getting slapped with brie might not be so bad, if it was ripe. But getting slapped with a bris would definitely put a damper on my week.

  2. Slap me with bris? My gut wonders if maybe this was meant to be “brie”, a soft French cheese. The only meaning I have ever known ascribed to the word bris (rhymes with bliss) is the ritual circumcision of Jewish boys when they are eight days old. Something tells me this interpretation would reduce the mass market for the t-shirts and dampen yeti’s dreams of untold wealth.

  3. Well, like the French appeasing a dictator in hopes of maintaining “peace”, this get rich quick scheme could only work in your dreams.

  4. thank god! the yeti is back in action. i missed your posts last week. i’ve become a DY junkie.

  5. Not only are you a writer, but a commentator as well! Well done Matt. Now lets discuss that huge Freudian slip about the bris. What were you “really” dreaming about last night?

  6. Alright! But aren’t you a freelance writer? I was assumin’…

I am so glad you thought of it FIRST ’cause you say you hate it when other people beat you to the punch. And now you got to stamp the legonomics idea as your own. But patents? I am worried someone will steal your T-shirt idea. Matthew, you have to stop just giving this stuff away for free!

  7. To answer your question, it’s Washington, DC.

(Just like you would write any other city followed by the state abbreviation. The only difference is that District of Columbia isn’t really a state.)
