Support Our Troops

WASHINGTON (AFP) - President George W. Bush vowed that strikes on US-led forces in Iraq would not lead the United States to "leave prematurely" and defiantly challenged any foes in the war-torn nation to attack US troops.

"There are some who feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is, bring'em on!," he said.

Okay, pissed now.

40 thoughts to “Support Our Troops”

  1. Grrr…Although not that surprising from a man who thinks like this:
“I’m the master of low expectations. I’m also not very analytical. You know I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things.”

  2. Actually thought this was another of your satirical news stories at first. I don’t get the warmest of warm fuzzies from that speech.

I do, however, get a warm fuzzy from your new subtitle. Is that brand-spanking new, or am I just extremely un-observant?

  3. At least our troops will die for a good cause since we found all of those weapons of mass destruction, right?

Are you sure there isn’t suppose to be a link from The Onion?

  4. I generally support Pres. Bush and I particularly supported the war against Iraq (and no, I don’t care if we ever find any WMDs, I still think it was “a good cause”), but I just cannot conceive of a good reason to EVER have said this.

May be tomorrow it will all just go away. . .

  5. A friend was reading the Onion today and read this out loud: “Bush Asks Congress For $30 Billion To Help Fight War On Criticism”. The thing is I thought it was a real headline. Sort of the opposite problem you have here. :)

  6. My hope is that the families of the troops will hear this and become aware of just how ridiculous this situation has become.

  7. This guy is an utter imbecile, how he was ever elected is beyond me ( ok,okay,he was elected..but..sheesh)

Now if Colin Powel was in office that would be something..an educated person running the country for a change.

  8. My thoughts exactly, Suzanne.

That mental midget still treats every world situation like it is a prairie dog colony waiting to be flushed. Every world leader is some rascally ol’ varmint.

How strange… I just looked up the Texas state motto so I could try to work it into the previous paragraph. But the motto is Friendship. So much for that.

  9. Easy for someone who has been afraid to set foot in Baghdad and has to fly over it at 31,000 feet to say. I say we give him the standard issue uniform and gun and put him on the ground over there.

“You may have thought I said Bring It On, but what I meant was, bring on the peace…”

  10. Yeah, great idea! Let’s put our commander-in-chief on the frontlines.

Obviously someone here never played Stratego.

  11. When your commander in chief displays foolish judgement it’s not such a huge risk.

  12. Maybe he played, but he wsa the invulnerable and wily Scout?

And don’t worry, Matthew, it’s not like we have put up with another four yea–

    oh.

  13. I’m not a GW fan, but come on, people – Bush is not challenging Iraqi’s to attack our troops. I know it may sound that way, but he’s a dimwitted cowboy, you have to do a little translating. You know he meant that our troops will kick ass, when/if provoked.

  14. I agree with Cristina. Get a life, y’all. We knew he was inarticulate when we didn’t elect him.

  15. He says that the US military won’t leave no matter how badly they are attacked. It’s good to know what the acceptable level of casualties is: “All of them.”

  16. god. please get out there and vote in the next election. Please. Every single one of you!

  17. My condolences in advance for all the future casualties your premier’s words, now and in the future, will cause. US Defence contractors rejoice, with a premier like this, your services will never be out of demand.

  18. I really would like to see someone walk up to Dubya and say, “STFU n00b! kthxbye!” just to see the look of confusion on his face.

  19. A Deep Thought:

I wish a robot would get elected president. That way, when he came to town, we could all take a shot at him and not feel too bad.

  20. > I really would like to see someone walk up to Dubya and say, “STFU n00b! kthxbye!” just to see the look of confusion on his face.

I’d like to see that to, because it would sound something like “stiffoo noob! k’thix bye!” and everyone around would have a look of confusion.

  21. I swear.. If we don’t elect him for another 4 years (like we did last election)
I’m gonna move to Canada ( just like I said I was gonna the after the last election)… I wish it weren’t so damn cold up there.

  22. Helter Skelter is on TV right now, and one of the women (I forget her name) just gave her testimony to the grand jury describing the war Manson wanted to spark: “You can’t imagine what it would mean to see every man judge himself and then take it out on every other person in the world.”

It occurs to me that George Bush is now perpetrating that war, minus the bit about self-judgment.

  23. You’re all aware that most of the soldiers actually in Iraq cheered when they heard that “Bring ’em on” line, aren’t you?

And that, in that part of the world, defiance in the face of your enemies is considered a sign of strength?

    I’m just saying.

  24. He didn’t say “attack our troops.” That’s just added to blur context and add drama. I think he was saying they won’t win. That they would not cause us to “leave prematurely.”

Anyone that thinks he meant for them to attack our troops comes off to me as being quite simple.

And I’ll be voting for Bush again Gabi, as opposed to some irrational democrat that thinks you can fix anything by throwing money at it. ;D

  25. There’s a whole lot of wishing in this thread, and not a lot of paying attention.

What did you expect him to say? “We’re trying not to piss you off, it’s all our fault, sorry, sorry, sorry”?

    No.

If Al Q. can be goaded into action attacking a strong military presence…let it be so.

    Dak

  26. > And I’ll be voting for Bush again Gabi, as opposed to some irrational democrat that thinks you can fix anything by throwing money at it. ;D

Justly so. As opposed to an irrational moron (don’t even care that he’s a Republican) that thinks you can fix anything by throwing troops at it. ;D

  27. >irrational democrat who thinks he can fix everything by throwing money at it.

    *Looks at deficit*

Is that opposed to the current policy of spend more while cutting back revenues (taxes)? Some of you should also take a look at what is being cut spending wise, like support for the families of our troops.

  28. It seems US foreign politics has returned to the seventies.

Oh my….Hes the goddamn stupidest president you ever had.

Seems he can’t put a stick in shit without destroying both.

    And besides…He was’nt elected !
