Hey, whoa, what happened to last week? I posted on Monday, and then I slapped up a half-assed, recycled entry on Tuesday, and then … it’s all a blur.
Anyway, it’s Game On again here at the yeti, starting with my latest Morning News article, The LiveJournal of Zachary Marsh.
By the way, here’s the full-sized ducks image and the inspiration for the piece.
Laughed loud enough to make a scene at work. Unfortunately no Lovecraft fans in my vicinity and so hard to explain why I found it so funny. IICF indeed. TINDWCEL AASEEDMD, depending, of course, on whether you spell it eons or aeons.
The pictures of the Ducks were Amazingly Funny.
I’a I’a Cthulhu fhtagn
Spatter the stars
Douse their luminosity
With our amniotic retch
Promulgating the birth
Of another Hell on Earth
Shadows gather poisoned henna for the flesh
A necrotic cattle brand
The hissing downfall pentagram
Carven deep upon the church doors of the damned
But no Passover is planned
A great renewal growls at hand
And only when they’re running
Will they come to understand…
So ends the pitiful reign of Man
When the moon exhales
Behind a veil
Of widowhood and clouds
On a Biblical scale
We raise the stakes
To silhouette the impaled
Crowds…
Within this kissed disembowel arena
A broken seal on an ancient curse
Unleashes beasts from the seismic breach
With lightning reach and genocidal thirst
Mountains of archaos theories
In collision as at planetary dawn
Apocalypse’s razorbacks
Beat wings on glass as thunder cracks
Unfurled across a world hurled to the black
Cthulhu dawn

I only wish I had the skill to carve up some text and html like that. I almost cried with iicf. I’m going to put that in my sig rotation for sure. Kudos.
I obviously missed the central reference but I liked it anyway. (Ducks!)
And as far as dumb music goes, Limp Bizkit did the cover of “Faith,” not Korn.
Good stuff with iicf – I bet oldmanmarsh has some interesting custom smileys.
I thought the duck pictures were part of a spoof caption contest. Glad to know the babies are safe & sound.
The grating in the follow-up isn’t the same as in the first set of pictures. I don’t think it’s the same ducks.
Brilliant.
what mike said.
Darn – Mike beat me. Those aren’t the same ducks. I feel like a turd for sending that around my office. It’s almost as embarassing as the time I sent around that photo of Jane Fonda and John Kerry. Thanks, Yeti!
You been punk’d!
I know they’re not the same, but I so want to believe. great stuff.
yodel:
for the original. (It helps to have lived in Providence, R.I.)
that should have read:

No, it’s the same grating. Look at the tiny plant at the bottom corner. And the dried grass opposite. The car is different though…so must be something tricksy.
That’s clever, remaking the H.P. Lovecraft story as a weblog.
